JourneyOur Focus
With a passion for ocean conservation, an intimate knowledge of sea mammals and inside access to the marine fraternity, David, his partner Christie, and their dedicated crew will travel around Australia’s coastline on a unique adventure.
As well as highlighting Australia’s most protected marine animals, David and Christie have 3 key focus areas that they love to promote!
1. Go plastic bag free!

It makes us cringe to think about these statistics!
- Plastic bags have been around for 30 years now. It is estimated worldwide that 1 000 000 000 bags are used and discarded every year.
- It’s horrible to think that Australians use 3.92 billion plastic bags a year, that's over 10 million new bags being used every day.
- An estimated 3.76 billion bags or 20,700 tonnes of plastic are disposed of in landfill sites throughout Australia every year.
Not to mention it kills thousands of Marine animals and Sea Birds every year in our Oceans! We can do something to reduce this! Check out Clean up Australia’s website for handy tips!
2. Sustainable Seafood

So what does sustainable seafood mean?
To put it simply, 'sustainable seafood' is fish or shellfish that has come from sources and fishing techniques that have had minimal impact on the fish stocks and environment. These are fishing techniques that ensure that marine environments and fish stocks will be around in years to come.
If you love the ocean and you love seafood, we recommend seeing a film called The End of the Line, the first major feature documentary film revealing the impact of overfishing on our oceans, it is a must see!
According to the film, if we continue fishing the way we are currently, fish stocks around the world will be depleted by 2048. Pretty damn scary!
Fortunately there are great organizations out there who are working towards achieving sustainable fisheries. And thankfully consumer demand for environmentally friendly fish products is beginning to create momentum for a positive future, so we can still enjoy eating fish in 50 years time!
