Our Blue Backyard is an exciting journey of discovery set to uncover our unique coastlines, marine animals and the Blue Heroes who are committed to protecting their very existence. Join us as we explore the oceans and our future together.
Our Blue Backyard has many initiatives, all working together to uncover the truth and bring the information to every Australian.
Brought to life by David Whitehill, a TV Presenter and former professional dolphin trainer (aka Dolphin Boy) and his partner Christie lee Sharpe, this will not only be a search for answers but also the adventure of a life time.
Our Journey

In 2011 we will be embarking on a journey around Australia to find out why some of Australia’s very own marine creatures are becoming endangered, what it is that connects everyday people to them, and how you at home can help!
The only way to uncover exactly what is affecting our marine life is to set sail and discover the ocean like never before. As we film you will be able to follow our journey around the Australian coastline, meeting thirteen marine creatures and the Blue Heroes dedicated to their survival.
On the expedition, we will cover thousands of sea miles, endure the treacherous seas of the Southern Ocean, dive with dugongs on the West Coast, swim with Sea Turtles on the Great Barrier Reef and uncover what makes our ocean such an amazing backyard.
